First Impressions…

Sunday, June 29th, 2008

Well, I’ve had my new lens for a few days and I LOVE IT. And I sure picked a great time to buy it, I had some Bridals, some engagements, a family shoot and then a specialty shoot with my sister this weekend. And tonight, for me, I went up AF Canyon and took some pictures. It’s been a great weekend though, my new lens is FANTASTIC! I’m excited to see what else I can do with it.

What’s with Tuna?

Saturday, June 28th, 2008

I had a tuna fish sandwich for lunch today. It was good. I got to thinking though, why do we usually refer to it as ‘Tuna Fish’? Is there another kind of tuna, like a tuna cow? Perhaps a tuna bird? Do we attach fish to other fish food?

“May I recommend the Salmon Fish to you tonight, sir. Or perhaps the Halibut Fish will be more to your liking?”

English truly is a funny language. I’m sure I’ll refer to the chicken of the sea as tuna fish still, but I find it quite funny that we have to attach fish to it at all. Tuna generally gets the point across. One day though, if I’m witty enough and someone offers me just plain tuna, I might clarify and ask if it’s tuna fish, or tuna cow.

A few days ago I got a bad idea in my head. I finally justified that my demand was more than my supply, and I had money enough to buy, so I bought a new lens. I grew tired enough of my crappy wide-angle and opted for the fancy high-grade Canon 17-40 F4L that I rented while I was in Hawaii. And it arrived today. I love it! I can finally sell off that crappy one that I felt stuck with, and I’ll also be able to get the wide shots I’ve wanted to take for so long, both of landscapes and portraits.

I could talk photo-geeky for awhile, but I won’t. Let’s just say I’m excited about it!
