Jazz vs Lakers

Wednesday, May 14th, 2008

Game 5 just ended. I’m curious as to who’s playing who. I thought the Jazz were supposed to be playing against the Lakers, but it seems to me to be more the Jazz are playing against the Refs. Sure, they called crap against both teams, but there was a LOT more crap called against the Jazz. It’s sad that near the end the Jazz were afraid to do ANY defense in the paint for fear of a whistle. That’s just not how this is supposed to go down.

As my friend Brody pointed out, can the NBA Brass make it any more clear that they want the Lakers and the Celtics in the finals, regardless of the cost and hinderance to sportsmanship?

The Doctrine of the Soul

I was talking with a friend tonight and we discussed in a great manner something along the lines of the Doctrine of the Soul. It’s definitely one of my favorites. I recalled the words from a talk by Elder Holland and quoted them to her, and thought it might be good to put them on here to remind me as well.

Of all the titles he has chosen for himself, Father is the one he declares, and Creation is his watchword–especially human creation, creation in his image. His glory isn’t a mountain, as stunning as mountains are. It isn’t in sea or sky or snow or sunrise, as beautiful as they all are. It isn’t in art or technology, be that a concerto or computer. No, his glory–and his grief–is in his children. You and I, we are his prized possessions, and we are the earthly evidence, however inadequate, of what he truly is.

Committed

Yesterday for lunch I went to Taco Bell, I left work about 12:15. Taco Bell is 5 minutes away at most. I didn’t make it back until 1:00 and I used the drive thru. Bad idea. I was in line for about 35 minutes, it took almost 10 minutes after I initially pulled in before I even moved.

Sadly, Taco Bell wants you committed to the Drive Thru when you pull in… THERE IS NO ESCAPE! Not in a car at least. Had I been in a truck I would’ve driven over the lawn and back on to the street, but sadly I couldn’t so I just had to wait it out. And wait I did. With a lot of other people.

Thankfully, I had some movies on my iPhone, so I watched a good amount of Back to the Future III. Great movie. On a side note, I washed my car yesterday at 5:00pm. It’s 10:45am and I already have two bird bombs on it. Unbelievable.
