25 Feet Under

Part of scuba certification involves diving in a pool, and then when you’re ready to get certified, diving in open water. Our fantastic instructor Ryan took us down to the hot springs in Meadow, Utah, a 100 degree water filled hole in ground about 110 miles south of Provo. It was awesome, and I’ve wanted to go back ever since.

Yesterday afternoon I finally had my chance. I called up my friend Josh and he seemed pretty stoked to trying out scuba, so we planned a trip and headed down. Ryan was nice enough to let us use his BCD’s and Regulators, all that I needed was to rent some tanks from Scuba Ted’s in Springville. Fourteen dollars later we had two tanks filled to about 3200 psi and off we went.

About 90 minutes later we finally got there, and there was not another soul in sight – perfect! After a quick explanation to Josh about the gear, I set us both up and floated the equipment into the pool. I got in first and it feels FANTASTIC! The air temperature was about 30 degrees so the 100 degree water is very very welcoming.

After a few shallow practice dives, showing Josh what do to should his mask fill with water, or if his mouthpiece came out, we headed for the deep end 25 feet down. He loved it. I think we hung out there for about 2 hours and ended up doing 5 dives down, and we both still had about 1000 psi left in the tanks; but 2 hours in that water gets you very warm.

We had a great time down there, picked up some garbage and some bottles (people are stupid everywhere), had one pair of visitors on their way to Cedar City, but they just stopped to look and didn’t get in. They missed out.

I totally want to go again, so if you want to come along you better speak up!

I would like to sometime but life has been crazy lately!
P.S. your blog spacing is out of wack! The post overlaps into the search, archives, and categories space. Just FYI

Yes, WordPress is a pain in the butt to customize, not nearly as easy as Pixelpost. And that’s why my blog is called ‘The layout is still out of order’ :) I need to check it in Firefox though, haven’t gotten around to that, let alone IE7. There are like 4 different pages to work on just to display a post, your home page, and then the individual post page, and then the archive page… it’s just a pain in the butt.
