Caribbean: Day 1

Posted on by joel

Hi. Although I’m cutoff from the technology world, I can still blog on my iPhone WordPress App and upload all these when I get back. So I’ll do just that!

I wrote about my visit to the Everglades earlier, so no need to go over that. So let’s just start at the Port of Miami. THIS SHIP IS HUGE! Currently the biggest cruise liner in the world (by 2″). I’m constantly blown away by what they pack on this thing. A live stage 1250 seat theater, an ice skating rink, a casino, several pools, a mini strip mall, a HUGE dining area for dinner, my guess is it seats about 1600 people on the 3 levels it covers. A total 3+ course top knotch restaurant. And the best catch – no prices on the menu! And order up. Then order up again. Repeat. Try 3 appetizers. Two entrĂ©e’s. Skip dessert or have one of each. No scorn, no ‘No’ answers – just pure, evil gluttony. Mmmm. How does that burger taste! Tonight I actually did pretty good, I didn’t stuff myself silly. I’m feeling quite comfortable.

My current comfort is sitting on a deck lounger on deck 4, a vast expanse of ocean in front me passing by under a black sky. I’m in the middle of the ocean yet surrounded by more amenities then I am at home. Unbelievable.

Nothing too eventful today, just lots of excitement and food. It’s about 10pm local and I’m pretty tired. Tomorrow is all day at sail, no ports. I wonder what I’ll try. Monday is coming up quick though! On to Haiti we sail!!

To be continued.
