Fall TV 2008

Posted on by joel

Fall is here, football is being played, the leaves are changing colors, and the new seasons of TV shows are up and running. I’ve decided to fill everyone in on the shows I’m watching.

Chuck I like this show. I pretty much had to catch the whole first season online, and was apprehensive at first, but I’ve really grown to like it. It’s fun, has enjoyable characters (several babes!) and it’s just a good, light show to stay on top of.

The Office What more can I say? I love Michael and Jim and Pam and Creed and Ryan and Phyliss and Angela and Stanley and Dwight and and and…

Heroes So far, I’m a big fan of the first two seasons. The third was cut short by the stupid strike, and I don’t know how sold I am on Season 4 just yet; the opener was not enjoyed. It was good, but… I hope they get back to their roots on this one.

Fringe The jury is still in deliberation on this one, thus far it’s proved to be an interesting series, but I don’t know if JJ Abrams pulled it off again. Cloverfield was a pretty boring movie, so hopefully he’s not in the same funk that produced that. So far it’s been moderately addicting, but things need to change if they want me hooked.

Prison Break This show is a strong, constant performer. So far Season 4 has proved to be top notch, the opener was a very emotional high capacity episode. All the favorites are still involved, the story is too much for real life, but right on par with the shows’ version of reality. If you haven’t caught any Prison Break before, rent the first few seasons and give it a watch! A very good show!

I don’t know what I’d do without DVR technology. I have all of these scheduled to record every week so I don’t miss a beat. Ahhh, television addictions. At least Hollywood can still deliver sometimes.

I agree with you on all counts! Execpt that I haven’t tried watching Chuck yet…but I might! Heroes is not doing it for me this season either. It’s confusing with all the time travel and boring, too! The most interesting thing that has happened is that Sylar is apparently good.
Ryan and I have been watching Fringe and I like it. I like the charactors a lot, especially Walter. He’s quirky and likeable. I’d like them to bring the individual shows together more, though. So far they don’t seem to have a bigger plot than the plot of each episode.
And I love Prison Break but I haven’t seen past the first few James Whistler episodes yet.
All in all, I think we have similar taste in TV Shows, Joel. I’ll have to give Chuck a try.

That’s an excellent observation on Fringe, Tamara. So far they’ve been very individual, without any connection. I’m sure the Observer will show up, but using the same characters doesn’t connect the story as well. I’m trying to remember how long Lost took to really weave it’s story.

I think this is actually the 3rd season of Heroes, isn’t it? Maybe I’m confused. They’re always taking breaks and stuff and I can’t keep track. But yeah, if they don’t do something to simplify I am going to start getting really annoyed. There are too many strains to follow and it is way too confusing. And holy cow, if Hayden Panetierre’s acting as “Bad Claire” doesn’t get better I don’t know how much more I can take. I could go on. Did you watch the Office tonight? (Holly wants to fire Meredith for… PG-13-rated reasons) I thought it was kind of a dud, but good for kicks. I loved how Jim was timing Dwight! Cracked me up.
