Irks and Annoyances

I need to vent out a few complaints and annoyances. They’re trivial things but sometimes it’s good to just get them off your chest.

Provo City Parking This one isn’t going away anytime soon. And this winter they’re really proving to bug me. Provo City spends who-knows-how-much on Parking Enforcement in my neighborhood, and the only reason I can come up with is because Provo Hates Students. There are signs every 30′ in my neighborhood stating that there is no overnight parking, and day parking only with a permit. In my Residential Neighborhood! They have it patrolled 3-5 times a day with their Parking Monkey, who has a SERIOUS authority complex. Also, on the West end of 580N, the cars that park on the corner have a ticket every single morning, without fail, because they park too close to the corner. Why oh why doesn’t Provo spend a little time and paint the corner red (to match the other 70% of the curbs in the neighborhood) so they don’t have to give out a ticket every morning. Oh yeah, because that would benefit students and lower revenue. Greed. Absolute sick greed.

Provo City Snow Removal First off, kudos to the Snow Plow drivers and how much ground they have to cover. My irk isn’t against them. It’s against the city which seems to have done a lousy job with the budget on this. This winter has dumped a lot of snow on a lot of days, and sadly snow removal has not been up to par, or even acceptable, all too often. Tyson’s parents live in the Riverbottoms, and I’ve been there about 5 times this winter and every time their street is snow covered; the plows haven’t even come by. And sometimes this is 2 days after the snowstorm. I asked them if it’s always been that way, and they said ‘No, just this year. They’ve always been good in the past’. So, Provo spends untold thousands on Parking Enforcement, Parking Sign Creation and Installation, and forgets the CITY duties of road maintenance.

Miley Cyrus and Hannah Montana Disney, do you really enjoy ruining lives? Have they not noticed that every child ‘star’ that comes out of Hollywood anymore is completely psycho by the time their in their mid-twenties? And here they have two 15? year old girls that lip-sync at live concerts in front of teenage fans whose parents had to fork out a grand so they could attend. And they promote this all over the country, day after day. And now I just saw that Miley Cyrus is making a special Guest Appearance on ABC’s Extreme Home Makeover. Tell me, what kind of life-changing counsel could a 15 year old pop-star possibly give anyone? Grrrrr!

Okay, I’m done. Kind of. There are a few more but I’ll just let them steam up in me for a little bit.
